"slight change of plan (with bubbles)" was written for members of the ensemble Intersection; clarinetist Jun Qian, pianist Nicola Melville and percussion David Hagedorn for the occasion of the concert at the MacPhail Center for Music in March of 2009.

My intent was to use a minimalist gesture, developing in a sort of hocket style between the three instruments. After establishing a groove, the ensemble as a whole gets carried away as it were, slipping in and out of a more traditional sounding, somewhat jazzy second theme.
